ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Indian Woman paraded Naked in Street for Affair
An Indian tribal woman was stripped naked and paraded through the streets of West Bengal as punishment for an extramarital affair.
The 35-year-old indigenous woman was found ‘guilty’ of the affair by the locals and received verbal and physical abuse as a result.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district.
However, the shocking ordeal only came to light on Sunday, June 13, 2021, after videos of the attack went viral.
A video of the woman hunched on the ground is circulating on Twitter.

In the video, the woman can be heard saying: “Mariya na kitna mariyega (beat me as much as you can).”
Prior to the incident, the woman allegedly left her husband following an extramarital affair.
According to reports, she lived with another man for the next six months.
Following her recent return, locals reportedly formed a temporary court and decided to punish her for her alleged crime.
On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, they barged into her home, dragged her outside and stripped her.
The assailants then hurled abuse at her and made her march naked through the village.
The woman fled after the attack, and no one informed the police of the incident until the videos came to light.
After learning of the incident, police tracked the woman down to her parental home in Assam.
The woman then filed an FIR in the presence of her husband, naming those who assaulted her.
Eleven people have been accused of the attack, and police have already arrested six of them. The remaining five are still on the run.
The accused are charged under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempted murder), among other sections.
Three of the group, identified as Bhabesh Kujur, Dipon Toppo and Sujit Lakra, appeared in court on Monday, June 14, 2021.
The judge ordered them to be remanded in police custody for 12 days.
Some reports say that the attack was the workings of a kangaroo court.
However, according to the police, it was a spontaneous assault by youths belonging to the same tribe as the woman.
Speaking of the case, a senior police officer said:
“A group of villagers belonging to a tribal community tortured a tribal woman on Wednesday night.
“We acted immediately and informed the Officer in Charge, Khamakhaguri under Kumargram police station, and arrested six persons.
“We applied for 14 days remand, got 12 days for further investigation.
“Raids are on to arrest the other accused persons and action will be taken as per law.”
The police officer added: “Search is on for the rest of the culprits.”
